A Bit About Me

Nathan 'Redbeard' Adam

The Salmon River has been flowing through my veins since I was a child. Being born in Northern New York and growing up on the banks of the Salmon River has given me the opportunity to learn as much as I can about the species within this fishery.

As a child, I fished for salmon and steelhead using many different methods, but it wasn't until I was given a fly rod for my 10th birthday that I found what I was looking for.

There is no better feeling than hooking into a salmon or steelhead on a fly rod. The feel of the rod bending over like you hooked a freight train, the sound of the drag screaming, and the power of the battles will leave you with a story to tell, whether you land the fish or not.

Guided Fly Fishing Trips

Up N Adam Guide Service caters to fishermen of all ages and experience levels. Whether you are interested in learning, improving your skills, or just looking to get out and have a fun day on the water, we offer an experience you'll never forget!

When booking trips there are some key time frames you'll be interested in looking at.

If you're after Chinook 'King' Salmon and Coho 'Silver' Salmon, your optimum dates are between September 15th to October 15th.

For Steelhead trips, dates from October 15th on into the new year are your best opportunities. The early steelhead in October are looking to crush any fly that drifts down in front of them, and it can be a great time for someone who is looking to land their first steelhead.

For all fall fly fishing trips my guide service works out of the Douglaston Salmon Run (DSR) in Pulaski, NY.  The Douglaston is a low-pressure catch and release environment, spanning two and a half miles on the Salmon River. These pristine surroundings offer a unique experience to fly fisherman and drift boat anglers alike. Settled around the river are seven lodges, available for rent year round.

The DSR has evolved into more than just a span of river. Anglers come from near and far to experience the excellent catch and release fishery, as well as the culture of respect, cleanliness, and good sportsmanship.

For more information about the Douglaston Salmon Run visit their website: https://www.douglastonsalmonrun.com

All of our trips are wet wade fly fishing only, but don't fret! You won't be reenacting Brad Pitt in 'A River Runs Through It.' You'll be fishing with 7wt 11'6" Douglas DXF switch rods that make casting at all levels a dream. All trips include a hearty lunch and bottled water. You may bring other snacks and drinks but please, NO Alcohol. We save that for the nightly celebrations.

“Sharing the fun of fishing turns strangers into friends in a few hours. Whether you sit with native fishermen in their boat and fish with nets and lines or dive under the sea with them – they will lead you to the haunts of the specimens you desire and you could not find yourself in safer and more enjoyable company.“
